Immersive produced videos for 20 of Jason’s most popular live tracks, alongside designing the stage and set as a touring production. Taking inspiration from Jason’s notes and home films, the 20 different looks represent what the songs were written about for Jason, each coming with proposed lighting colour palette and side triptych panel box colours.
The creative freedom we had with Jason and the large scope of the project meant that we could fully explore a few thematic references; those of love, the environment, a celebration of Life and journeys, all with a focus on light and architecture. The content development grew from playing with micro and macro visuals; real and psychological space. The scenes also had contrasting colour and movement with upbeat tunes getting fast cuts and vivid colours. Jason latched onto the idea of shapes depicting memories and thoughts, and he was really open about what each song meant for him, so we got to create exactly what he wanted.
Jason wanted a very dynamic visual show that encouraged audience participation, so we took cues from theatrical shows and investigated techniques to surprise, wow and include the audience. There were moments that juxtaposed the audiences sing-alongs with the visuals, referencing the concept of echoes and pure colours that seem to move and breathe to the tempo of the songs.
The colourful medley of colour and forms and the thematic references made this a production close to Jason’s artistic heart.
