Through our years of creating content for immersive environments, we have become are one of the best in the industry when creating 360° content for domes and planetariums. We pitched the idea of an immersive cinema to BP in the first instance and we then extended the concept to include a VR takeaway, as a dome is simply the top half of the 360° VR ‘ infinite sphere’.
We also designed a tunnel experience that led the guests into the dome, where they walked through an environment created of evaluation data that was part of the process of creating the new fuel. We also created an interactive motion tracking experience that allowed visitors to clean engine valves with a wiping hand motion similar to the effects of the new fuel.
The 360° dome animation was an 8-minute long visual extravaganza that takes the viewers through BP’s research stage, the stage of cleaning the problem of dirty engine valves, and finally the clean engine stage where we take the viewers through multiple CG landscapes that celebrate the extra mileage given with a clean engine.
BP’s new character ‘Orby’ was the hero of the journey and he led the eye through the varying scenes that tell the story of the new fuel.
We created a 360 4D cinema was created for a breath-taking audience experience for BP in Berlin. Here a custom surround speaker system, ‘thumpers’ on every cinema style seat that vibrated the chairs were deployed, to create this immersive experience that told the story of BP’s new fuel technology.
Wherever the video content was on the screen, either static or moving, the audio track and pinpoint the location of sound represented the visuals.
